The Refrigerator offers many opportunities for improvement. If you have ever had a side by side fridge you understand the limited storage space. We went from a standard fridge in our first home to a side by side in our 2nd home. In our third home we have the counter depth model side by side. That means it isn't as deep as a standard fridge. The loss in space was a challenge for our family of six.
I originally had translucent baskets with handles in the fridge and freezer, and while that helped organize the food they were too wide, and a bit too heavy when full.
Last year I found these clear bins at Aldi. They are sold at just about every department store and they can be pricey! Aldi had a great deal on these bins for $4.99. They were about half the price of other retailers.
The benefit to having containers to hold all of the jar/sauce/condiments is that you can easily access what is in the back of the fridge. Just pull out the bin and you can easily see and reach anything in it.
Another benefit is that the bin keeps things from knocking over and if something leaks it is in the bin and not on the shelf or dripping down the side of the fridge wall.
If buying containers are not in the budget you can get creative. We have lots of free containers with our groceries that could be re-purposed. An empty lunch meat container or glass jar is perfect to hold other sauces from take/out night, leftovers, etc. And don't forget to check your dollar store. They always have a decent selection of plastic containers for just $1.
If you or someone you know is thinking about buying, or selling a property in the Metro Indy area I would love to talk with you about your real estate journey!
